5 Galentine’s Day ideas to honor your friendships

In this day of non-stop social media connectivity, likes, followers, and ratings, it is easy to miss the essential – especially for all of us gals out there.

Yes…it is wonderful to pick up more followers, to reach more people, and to feel that your work is paying off.  But…if we forget to build strong connections with the gals in our community, to build friendships by investing time, energy, and love…and, if we forget that community is more important than competition we might miss the golden opportunity of honoring our tribe and sharing in the joy that comes when ladies celebrate ladies.

Someone once told me that the Eskimos have 50 words to describe snow, but the English language only has one word for love.  Seems a bit odd to me that we don’t have better words for the many manifestations of love…including the love we share with the gals in our lives.  Guess that we will have to allow our actions carry the day.

So, on this Galentine’s Day, take action to honor the many ladies and gals that make up your community or tribe.  Here are some ideas for ladies who want to celebrate ladies:

Go get your nails done with a friend…and for the more adventurous in the crowd…try your manicure skills on one another.  A glass of wine might help to set the tone for some time together.

Take one of your gals to brunch.  Find a restaurant that specializes in brunch and be sure to schedule enough time for conversation liberated by mimosas.

Send the ladies in your tribe a love-note or a note of gratitude and appreciation.  The power and beauty of the written word convey compassion and love above and beyond other modes that might be easier.

Schedule a photoshoot with one, two, or more of the gals in your community.  Find a photographer that helps everyone feel comfortable so the images capture more of the magic we gals tend to hide away.

And…saving the best for last…plan a dinner together but be sure to finish the evening with some dancing.  Eating together builds connections between people, but dancing takes it to another level.  You and the gals in your tribe deserve good food, good company, and letting it all hang out on the dance floor.

Enjoy your Galentine’s Day!
