Fort Collins Engagement Session | Colorado Wedding Photographer | Melanie + John

Every now and then I meet couples who who have been together since high school and it warms my heart. Melanie & John are one of those couples; they met in their US History class Junior year and after Melanie dropped some not-so-subtle ‘ask me to Homecoming’ hints to John, he surprised her with her favorite flowers (purple daisies!), a stuffed horse and of course a sign asking her to go with him. Their life together started on that day and has been an adventure since! After high school, these two both attended DU in Denver and even studied abroad in Ireland and Scotland for the same semester — When they had free time, they would travel to each other and spent those 3 months exploring Europe together, growing as a couple and having the time of their lives.

When I asked Melanie what her favorite quality about John was, she told me that he is hard-working, devoted and is the most determined person she has ever meant —- ‘quit’ is not in his vocabulary and he carries that into his professional and personal life. John is always caring, gentle and supportive... Throw in a great since of humor and it’s the perfect husband-to-be! John is just as honest about how much he loves Melanie, saying she is passionate and caring and puts others needs above her own, she is driven and passionate in her journey to be a PA and he knows that she will be a great wife and eventually a mother.

With the obvious warmth and love that these two share, when John asked Melanie to marry him on October 10th, it was even more thoughtful than the Homecoming moment they shared. They attended Ocean Prime; Melanie’s favorite restaurant in downtown Denver, and John had a custom menu made with lyrics to their song printed on it. 50 white roses adorned their private dinner table and he even had prices removed because he knows that Melanie stresses about spending money. After their meal, he got down on one knee and the rest is history!

I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in the future and I’m so excited to share these images with you all!
