Horsetooth Reservoir Engagement Session | Colorado Engagement Photographer | Emily & Matt

When scouting for engagement sessions in Colorado, I always ask my couples what are your interests, favorite activities, and passions. Emily & Matt love mountain biking and wanted something that had more of a “Colorado Vibe”. I knew that Horsetooth Reservoir would be perfect for their engagement session.

Their engagement session was very relaxed and romantic - kind of like their love story.

Matt & Emily met on April 5, 2019, Matt decided to message Emily on the Hinge dating app. His message was short and sweet and they made plans to grab a drink once Emily arrived back in Denver from a work trip. Their first date - on April 12th - almost never happened. Emily had just flown in from DC after a long work week, and Matt had plans that evening to drive to Breckenridge. Luckily, they decided on a quick drink at Call to Arms Brewery in their neighborhood. That quick drink turned into a few, and before they knew it, Matt's friends were urgently texting him to see when he would be in Breckenridge. Emily left the brewery that night knowing Matt was truly special, and she couldn't wait to see him again. The next morning when Matt woke up in Breckenridge, he knew there was something special about their date because she was the first thing that crossed his mind. Their second date was one to remember: a special dinner at Matt’s favorite restaurant - Beast and Bottle, followed by artisan, handcrafted cocktails at Death and Co. It was a Wednesday evening and they both stayed up much longer than anticipated. They had a nightcap of decaf coffee and beignets at midnight - shortly before their first kiss. They both wished that date could have lasted forever because that night they both knew they would never find a stronger connection with anyone else.

Things moved very quickly from that point on and life for Matt and Emily was easy, comforting and exciting. They instantly became each other's best friend and were inseparable. They spent the Summer traveling to meet and see friends and families and then shortly after moved in together.

Matt proposed on October 26th. They decided to take a trip to Florida for their birthdays and invited their families to join. Unfortunately, Emily's parents were unable to attend...or so Emily thought. Matt orchestrated her parents surprising her on the beach and played it off as a "birthday surprise." That evening - 10/26/19 - Matt got down on one knee in front of both of their families and made Emily the happiest woman in the world!

I can’t wait for their upcoming wedding this year at the Arrowhead Golf Course in Littleton.
